Mid-Year Reality Check: Still Chasing That Dream?
If you’re reading this, thank you for your time.
Seriously. Time is a hot commodity, and you just spent some of yours here with me. Gold star. ⭐
Time really is one of our most valuable resources.
We can make more money.
We can create more love.
We can tap into more joy.
But time? Time’s a one-way train, and spoiler alert: there are no U-turns.
And yet… I’ll be the first to admit, I haven’t exactly earned my PhD in time management.
I’ve bought the planners. Tried the block scheduling. Color-coded things that had no business being color-coded.
Lately, I’ve been dabbling with those trendy 25-minute focus blocks. They actually do work—on the rare occasion I remember to start the timer and don’t get distracted by a snack, a text, or the sudden urge to clean out a drawer I haven’t opened since 2019.
So here we are.
It’s July. Half the year has come and gone.
That makes this the perfect time for a mid-year check-in.
Let’s talk about how you’re really spending your time.
(Not how you planned to. Not how your color-coded planner says you did. How you actually spent it.)
I invite you to try this:
Pick one day and track it. Not obsessively. Just… observe. Like a friendly little time detective.
Then take a look and ask yourself:
What percentage of your day went to admin stuff? You know, inboxes, errands, hunting for passwords you swore you’d remember.
What percentage was basic self-care—eating, resting, showering, breathing? (The essential stuff that keeps you upright, even if it’s not exactly bubble baths and journaling under moonlight.)
And what percentage of your time was spent doing something that nudged you closer to that dream or goal—the one you jotted down back in January or whispered to the ceiling fan late at night?
Now flip the coin:
How much time went to the same ol’ patterns? The ones that look busy but leave you feeling stuck?
Listen, I get it. There will always be laundry. And email. And people asking, “What’s for dinner?”
But if you really want something to feel different by the end of this year… you’ve gotta give your dream a bit more airtime. Even a few minutes a day adds up.
Start with five.
Five minutes to breathe, visualize, or reconnect with the version of you who knows where you’re going.
Five more to take a tiny, possibly awkward, definitely brave step in that direction.
Because if we keep doing what we’ve always done, we’ll keep getting what we’ve always gotten.
And honestly? That gets old.
You don’t need a total life overhaul by next Tuesday. You just need momentum.
I believe in your dream.
I believe in you.
Here’s to tiny steps & big dreams.
Keep Shining.
**And if you need someone in your corner cheering wildly (and maybe reminding you to set the timer)? I’m here.
