The Mood Shift Mystery: What Just Happened?!
A few months ago, I was out running errands, feeling pretty invincible. You know those days—you’re in the flow, crossing things off your list like a boss.
Then I bumped into an acquaintance. We chatted for maybe 10 minutes, nothing deep or dramatic. But afterward? I felt so tired. Like, “I need a nap and a time machine” tired. Just 20 minutes earlier, I was pumped to finish my shopping, head home, and dive into work. What happened??
Ever had a moment like that—where you're cruising along just fine, and bam, you're completely drained?
Maybe it’s:
A brief but weird conversation
A phone reminder about that thing you’ve been avoiding
One Netflix episode turning into three (oops)
A glance at your credit card bill—gut punch
These are all signs of energy leaks—those sneaky little ways we lose our spark without even realizing it.
And no, I’m not anti-rest. Please rest when you’re tired! Rest is necessary. But some days, it’s not about needing sleep—it’s about something else quietly pulling your energy away.
A Few Common Energy Leaks:
Money stress
Foods or drinks that don't love you back
Unhelpful thoughts
Toxic or draining relationships
Too much tech time
Clutter (mental or physical)
Procrastination
Poor posture, shallow breathing
Skipping joy
Unhealed emotions
These little leaks add up, leaving us exhausted and wondering what happened to our motivation and momentum.
So What Can You Do?
Start with awareness.
Next time you feel suddenly zapped, ask yourself:
What was I doing?
Who was I talking to?
What thought just popped in?
What did I eat or drink?
Did something just trigger me?
Be gentle with yourself. You might not notice anything at first—these patterns are deep. But over time, you’ll start to catch them. And when you do, offer yourself compassion.
This is a process, not a quick fix. But the more you notice your energy leaks, the more power you’ll have to plug them—and reclaim your joy and your vitality.
If something heavy comes up, you’re not alone. Reach out. The heavier it feels, the bigger the leak—and the more powerful it is to start healing it.
Until next time, keep shining, my friend. I’m rooting for you.
